SKU:SG1

ShowerGlyde Model SG1 is a revolutionary sliding transfer bench. It is designed to fit in environments where there are no obstructions adjacent to the tub (i.e. vanity, toilet). SG1 slides easily over the tub and locks in two points; on the inside and outside of the tub. This will allow for safe transfer while using the chair. SG1 can be assembled as a left or right-hand unit. One grab bar installed at the wall-side of the rails is included as an aid for sliding. The user can pull or push themselves easily along the rails. SG1 is height adjustable permitting clearance of up to a 19.5” tub. Optional extension legs are available for taller tub lips (up to 25”). SG1 comes standard with a seatbelt and a seat with 3 options; an open commode seat for easy washing, a reducer ring, and a solid seat insert.

The ShowerGlyde SG1 weighs 23.2lbs with a weight capacity of 330lbs.

We have sent the chair back for a refund. It was too high for the patient and not deep enough for the urine to go in the toilet.

SG2

Easy to assemble, fits well to my regular bathroom.
Is a bit higher than I thought it would be: adds 5.5" over the toilet. Recommend this transfer bench.

Great Solution for Safe Showering

I bought the SG2 as I have Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy, and it was becoming unsafe to step in and out of the shower stall. It was a small step but dangerous none the less. I use a commode frame over my adjacent toilet to make sit to stand easier, so when I saw a product that was both a commode seat and sliding shower seat it, peeked my interest.

The assembly was a little time consuming, but the instructional video was clear. We had to remove the shower doors and put up a curtain. We move some things around for convenience and put slits in the shower curtain to accommodate the rails. I also put a small foot stool in the shower, so my legs were not dangling. The chair slides easily and I am able to do it myself. The release buttons to release the seat to glide are easy to use and don't take much strength. The only challenge I have is reaching the water faucet as it is behind me.

Emmanuel was a great help during the purchasing process and with a couple of questions I had once we put the bench in place. Calls and emails were answered promptly. Be sure to check the tightness of the screws on the rollers of the seat as one of mine was loose and the screw fell out. They should be tight when you get it, but this must have come loose in transit.

As for the comfort, the seat is hard, so I have ordered the seat cushion. The arm rests are not too comfortable either, but they do the job. Overall, the design and safety are good, but comfort could use some help. The hole in the commode seat could be a little larger too, to mimic a regular toilet seat. The hole is an odd shape. Lastly, it does not have a splash guard which would be helpful. Some type of splash guard that is removable would be good and the ability to flip the seat up for cleaning would be helpful too. Overall good product and I am happy with it so far. I am glad to be in the shower safely again!

Solid, well built shower transfer

This was the only unit I could find that was wide enough to be used in the Jacuzzi tub we have in our master bathroom. (see picture) It is solidly built with no shaking or wobbling. The chair glides back and forth effortlessly when occupied. The optional swivel seat on the SG1 made it ideal for our use.
I also want to point out that the customer service people were great to deal with and very responsive when I had a question. If you are looking for a high quality, durable shower transfer unit, the Shower Glide is it.

Helps me shower safely

The ShowerGlyde is designed for small bathrooms, but was still too large for our bathroom. We ordered and tried three different units and brands, but none of them worked either. After initiating a return, I decided to keep this bench and have it altered. We cut off the rails to shorten them where they hit my knees while sitting on the toilet. It worked perfectly! I have used the bench twice and absolutely love it. I feel completely safe, and am able to get on/off with only a little effort. I am disabled, overweight, and 80 years old, so this is something I needed to be able to stay in my home instead of going into assisted care.
